Stendhal, the writer of The Red and the Black and, The Charterhouse of Parma, stayed at Villa Tittoni and the new one is named after him multifunctional space in Desio.
The writer is also known for having lent his name to Stendhal Syndrome, used to indicate a mental state that it manifests itself in some people when they find themselves in front of particularly beautiful works of art.
It derives from the experience described by the French writer of the same name during his visit to the Basilica of Santa Croce in Florence.
