The 96th edition of the Oscars was held on March 11, 2024 and saw Oppenheimer as protagonist, with 7 statuettes won, including the awards for best film, best director, best cinematography, best leading actor, thus coming close to entering the Big Five of cinema. Not everyone knows that cinema also has its Big Five.
There are 5 Oscar awards considered BIG:
- Best Film
- Best Direction
- Best Leading Actor
- Best Leading Actress
- Best Screenplay
To date, only three films have managed to win all five awards: It happened one night (1934), One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) and the Silence of the Lambs (1991).
What makes this magical combination even more difficult is the award given to the actors: in very few films, in fact, the leading actor and actress are rewarded. This is precisely the case with The Silence of the Lambs Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins. The latter is the protagonist of another record: his character, Hannibal Lecter is on stage for just 15 minutes throughout the film. That was enough for him to create one of the best villains ever.
